What does placement cost?

Are Walden, Meditrek, or CastleBranch fees included?
No. Your tuition and any Walden, Meditrek, or CastleBranch fees are paid directly to those parties. Our fee covers placement and support only.
Why do quotes differ between students?
Because the search differs. Specialty scarcity, your state, the setting your course requires, and how close your deadline sits all change the work a match takes. Your number is flat and stated up front before you commit.
Does a tight timeline change the quote?
It can, because an urgent search is a different scope of work than one opened a quarter ahead. Either way you see one flat number on your free consult, and nothing is due until you are matched.
What moves a placement quote
We quote one flat number on your consult. Here is what generally moves it, so you can see your quote coming.
- Specialty. Psychiatric and pediatric slots are scarce in many markets, so a PMHNP or PNP search usually takes more outreach than adult primary care. Scarcity means search work, and search work is what you pay for.
- Geography. A metro has more sites but more competing students; a rural search has fewer doors, and each one matters more. Neither is automatically the easy case.
- Timeline. Walden's practicum deadlines close well before the quarter starts. A search opened weeks before that window has to move fast, and urgency changes the scope of the work.
- Setting. Acute care courses need hospital access, and hospitals bring heavier onboarding and a slower affiliation agreement path than outpatient clinics.
None of it changes the model: one flat, all-in number before you commit, and nothing due until you are matched.
How to vet any placement service, including us
Before you pay anyone, us included, ask five questions and insist on plain answers.
- When is payment due? Money owed before a named, confirmed preceptor exists is the biggest red flag in this market.
- Who handles the affiliation agreement? Ask how many Walden agreements they have executed and who prepares the paperwork.
- Do they know Meditrek? Nomination timing is where late placements die. A service that cannot walk you through the steps cannot protect your start date.
- What happens if the preceptor falls through? Get the replacement policy in writing before you pay, not after.
- Do they respect the university's authority? Walden approves every preceptor and site. Anyone who implies approval can be shortcut, or that hours can be signed without attending, is selling something that can end your program. Walk away.
