Because the FNP role spans the whole family, your placements need to cover the lifespan over the four courses, not just one patient population. In practice that means primary care settings such as family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, women's health, and community clinics. Your preceptor must hold the right credential for the patients you are seeing, typically an NP, physician, or other qualified provider that meets Walden's course-specific preceptor criteria.
